Chorus Review to feature 54 choirs from 7 countries

This year, 54 choirs from seven countries signed up for the Chorus Review at the Tampere Vocal Music Festival. The 8 foreign choirs are from the Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. The Finnish choirs come from all around the country.

The Chorus Review will be held in the Main Auditorium at Tampere Hall from Thursday 8 June to Saturday 10 June. Admission is free to the Chorus Review sessions. Each choir will give a performance of 15 minutes and will be evaluated by an international jury chaired by Heikki Liimola and including Haruko Kuwabara (JP), Scott Leithead (CA), Karmina Šilec (SI) and Kari Turunen (FI). The Chorus Review ends with the concluding concert in the Main Auditorium at Tampere Hall on Sunday 11 June, where choirs selected by the jury will perform and the merit prizes will be awarded.

Some of the choirs participating in the Chorus Review will also be performing in the series of free concerts called Kuule Sävel! (Feel the Festival!), which will be going on around the city throughout the festival, from 8 to 11 June. The concert series includes the Choral Picnic in Sorsapuisto park and the Choral Market at Tampere Hall. A detailed programme will be published in May.
