The members of the Jousia Quartet (former UTA Quartet) have studied at the Sibelius Academy and the Edsberg chamber music institute mainly under the direction of Teemu Kupiainen, Marko Ylönen and Mats Zetterqvist. They have also complemented their studies with Ralf Gothóni, among others. The quartet has actively performed at different festivals in Finland and abroad, including Sweden, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. In 2004 the quartet was awarded the second prize and a National Broadcast Company special prize at the Kuhmo International Chamber Music Festival, and in 2005 the quartet won third prize at the Trondheim International String Quartet Competition. The quartet has received substantial support in the form of different awards, for instance from the Pro Musica Foundation and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
